HOW MUCH DOES A CUSTOM PRESTASHOP OR WORDPRESS MODULE COST?

People ask me for a module when an off-the-shelf plugin does not do exactly what is needed. Here is what it costs by complexity, with real examples.

Three levels

Simple, from €600. One clear rule, a minimal settings screen. Examples: an extra field in the checkout, a conditional legal notice, a CSV export in your format, a dynamic reassurance block.

Business, from €1,500. Several interacting rules, with an admin interface. Examples: free shipping by zone and by amount with progress bars in the cart; OSS VAT by country with a monthly export for the accountant; price list per trade customer.

Integration, from €3,000. The module talks to an external system. Examples: stock and order sync with a POS, sending shipments to several carriers, customer portal linked to an ERP.

What drives the price

• How clear the rule is. A rule written in ten lines costs less than a rule “the way we usually do it”. Scoping is free, and it is what brings the quote down.
• The systems to connect and the quality of their interface.
• The edge cases : returns, cancellations, errors, what happens when a service is down.
• Maintenance : a module follows PrestaShop or WordPress versions. Count on one small intervention a year.

Compared to a premium plugin

A premium plugin costs €80 to €300 a year, does 80% of the need, and forces the remaining 20% on you. Over three years, a dedicated module from €1,500 costs the same, does 100% of the need, weighs less, and belongs to you.
