ONLINE BOOKING FOR YOUR RESTAURANT: STOP PAYING COMMISSIONS

Booking platforms take €2 to €3 per cover. A booking module on your own site, linked to your POS, costs once and belongs to you.

In brief
  • Platforms take €2 to €3 per cover and keep your customer list.
  • A booking module on your site costs once, belongs to you and links to your POS.
  • The “Book” button on the Google profile can point to your own module.

A 60-cover restaurant that fills half its room through a platform pays between €1,500 and €3,000 in commissions per year. For a feature that fits on one page of its own website.

What a platform really does

It shows your availability, takes the booking, sends a reminder. It also brings customers from its directory, true, but mostly customers who were already looking for you by name. And it keeps their details: the customer list is theirs, not yours.

What a module on your site does more

  • Zero commission. A setup cost, then nothing, or a modest monthly maintenance.
  • Your customers are yours. Email and phone in your database, for your own follow-ups: seasonal menu, special evening, annual closure.
  • Linked to your POS (or your floor plan): the booking creates the table, the bill attaches to it, no more double entry.
  • Your rules. Deposit for groups, different slots on the terrace, closing a service in one click, waiting list.
  • SMS or email reminder to reduce no-shows, with one-click cancellation.

And Google?

The “Book” button on your Google profile can point to your own module. You recover the bookings that went to the platform, without changing your customers' habits.

What it costs

A brochure site with menu and integrated booking, from €1,500. The link with the POS depends on the software you use: most modern POS systems have an interface, I check before pricing. The return on investment is counted in months, not years.

Where to start

Count your monthly bookings through the platform and multiply by the commission: that is your budget. Then audit your current site to know whether it can host the module or needs rebuilding.
